More than a dozen people tried their hand at curling during an open house hosted by the Jasper Curling Club last week.
Coined as a learn-to-curl workshop, the club opened its doors to the public for three days, letting the community try the sport for the first time.
The club provided curlers with the necessary equipment, as well as instruction from several seasoned veterans, who provided a brief lesson about how to properly throw a rock and sweep.
The evening ended with a short game amongst strangers.
The intent of the evening was to introduce people to the sport and sign up anyone who might be interested in playing this winter.
The mens league started Oct. 26 followed by the ladies league Oct. 27.
The community/corporate league starts Oct. 29 and the mixed league starts Oct. 30. The junior program begins Nov. 4.
