Dear Editor,
I recently attended the Parks Forum at the activity centre.
Participants were given an update of the past year, an overview of pressures and changes in Parks direction for the upcoming year and were asked to participate in working groups. These groups were asked to brainstorm about ideas and issues regarding the implementation of the Maligne Valley plan.
At the end, all the group members were given three green dots to put beside things they liked and one red dot to put beside something they didnt like. It was pointed out by one audience member that this was manipulating the results and would indicate that participants liked three times as much of what Parks put forward as what they disliked. This person was then told that Parks wanted this to be a positive experience.
Come on Parks, we know you are trying your best, but if you ask the public for comments and input, you should listen to it rather than skewing the feedback to suit your desired outcome.
