Halloween fashion show at thrift shop

With Halloween just around the corner, the hunt is on for a scream-worthy costume. However, if you’re not sure what to dress up as—don’t fret, the Jasper United Thrift Store has your back.

On Oct. 15, the McCready Centre will turn into a catwalk as dozens of volunteer models show off the thrift shop’s collection of donated costumes.

All the costumes will be for sale after the show. Any remaining costumes will be available at the thrift shop right up until Halloween.

Along with a catwalk performance, coffee and treats will be served.

The fashionable affair runs from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. on Oct. 15.

Admission is by donation.

For the love of Korea

Keeping with its word, Habitat for the Arts is hosting its second multicultural night of the year.

Last month Jasperite Oonagh Neilan welcomed a full crowd as she shared her memories and stories from her home country of Ireland.

This month, everyone’s favourite grandpa—Dong Han—will share his love of Korea, through songs, stories, pictures and more.

Despite having not lived in Korea for decades, Grandpa is still very much connected to his home.

Back in August, he met with fellow Korean and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, while the international diplomat was in town.

Grandpa has also spent years working on a proposal to build a new Canoe River memorial near Valemount.

The monument honours the lives of 17 soldiers and the four Canadian National Railway crewmembers that died in a train accident in 1950. The soldiers were part of a Canadian contingent being sent to Korea.

The Korean presentation will be held at Habitat for the Arts on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
