Local churches to host next community dinner
All-seven churches in town will host the next community dinner on Feb. 28 at the Jasper Activity Centre.
The dinner will also be an opportunity to remember Andy Walker, a former town councilor who helped start the community dinners in 2002 with Community Outreach Services (COS).
Andy’s wife, Ann Walker, will be in attendance and will bring his old cowboy hat and a portrait of him.Â
Rev. Dave Prowse will give grace before dinner is served, which is expected to be Korean fried Man-Doo. Ice cream will be served for desert.
The religious denominations involved in the dinner include, the Catholic, United, Baptist, Anglican, Pentecostal, Lutheran and Korean Presbyterian Churches.
The dinner begins at 5 p.m. and all money raised goes to COS.
Skating closed on Mildred Lake
Skating on Mildred Lake is closed for the season due to unseasonably warm weather.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge confirmed it closed public access to the lake on Feb. 18.
Skating is still open at Pyramid Lake and at Marmot Meadows.
