Wolves spotted near JasperÂ
Parks Canada is reminding residents to keep their dogs on a leash and to travel in groups after several reported wolf sightings in the Three Valley Confluence, in and around Jasper.
According to Parks, in the winter there is often more wolf activity in Jasper’s main valleys and wolves often travel on packed roads or trails.
While typically wary of people, the type and frequency of encounters can impact wolves’ behaviour putting them and the public at greater risk.
Repeat encounters between wolves and off leash dogs also puts other dogs and people at risk who may run into these same wolves at a later date.
Anyone who encounters a wolf is asked to report their sighting to 780-852-6155 or anonymously to 1-877-852-3100.

New December Project fundraiser
Jasper Physiotherapy and Health Centre and the Liquor Lodge have teamed up to help fundraise money for the December Project.
The event is called Scotch and Stretch and will be led by physiotherapist Sarah MacDonald, who will help participants stretch their way through a scotch tasting on Dec. 29.
The event starts at 7 p.m. at the physio clinic. Tickets are $20 cash and are available at the clinic.
Space is limited to 18 participants and only open to those who are paid members of the December Project.
The goal of the December Project is two-fold: to get people off the couch for 30 minutes of exercise a day and to raise funds for two local causes—the Caring Community Fund and the effort to bring a Syrian refugee family to Jasper.
