For the past three years, Riley Black has whipped up the most flavourful, crowd-pleasing soup for the Bowls with Soul event, earning himself the Golden Ladle award each and every year.

But this year, he had competition. Noah Jessome made an arctic char chowder that knocked the socks off seafood lovers at this year's event, securing himself a tie with the long-standing champion.

To break the tie, Jasper Habitat for the Arts—the organizers of the annual Bowls with Soul event, which sees chefs from restaurants around town concocting their most mouthwatering soups and competing for the title as the best soup chef in all of Jasper—has called a soup-off. The dates haven't yet been set, but sometime in the near future, Black will compete against Jessome in a head-to-head battle of herbs and spices to determine the winner of the 2015 Golden Ladle.
