Students, families and friends from Jasper Elementary School enjoyed a Christmas potluck lunch at the Jasper Activity Centre, Dec. 11.
The annual event is known as réveillon, a traditional French meal usually eaten after midnight mass on Christmas Eve.
The meal originally consisted of simple snacks or a slice of tourtière, a traditional meat pie originating from Quebec, along with a hot drink. Over time the meal transformed into a more lavish affair with more elaborate food.
In Jasper, the afternoon potluck consisted of a selection of cheeses, meats, fruits and vegetables as well as tourtière. There was also a wide selection of sweets, cookies and cakes for dessert.
