The Grizzlies won their first two games held on Saturday, Jan. 12, beating Sexsmith 3-1 and defeating Fairview 3-0.
The A Final was held on Sunday against the Innisfall Flyers. The Flyers came on strong in the first period scoring their one and only goal. Both teams played strong and hard. Eventually the Grizzlies scored a tying goal. Both teams chased each other around the ice showing strong defence in front of both nets while also aggressively seeking an opportunity to score.
It looked like the nail-biting game would move into overtime until, in the last minute of play, the Grizzlies scored a goal. When the clock ticked down the jubilant Jasper crowd cheered happily.
The Grizzlies took home the trophy with a score of 2-1. Assistant captain Lauren Ewald was awarded player of the final game.
