Look, thats me!

Kids were buzzing around the Jasper Legion, April 19, showing off the art they created over the last six months in their weekly after school program with Madame Vanessa Martin.

The art classes began in November and culminated with the exposition, featuring self portraits, clay sculptures, hanging pendants, still life drawings, as well as observation drawings of a rabbit that visited the classroom.

Martin said she developed the program to provide a creative outlet for the kidsmost of whom are in Grade 2.

For them its intuitive, she said. Thats what I love about working with themthey have freedom that we dont.

Each class the students created a new piece of art, many of which were hung on the walls along with a story about the assignment, explaining to parents and visitors how each piece of art came to be.
