Dear Editor,
I loved your last issue, Vol. 10, Issue 39. The Lil’ Cowpoke on the cover was so adorable and if you look close, a true Jasperite. Even though he was dressed up for the occasion (Rodeo Week), he still had on his local footwear, Merrill or Keen type hiking sandals. A true Jasperite, through and through.
Cliff was long overdue for some recognition. He is everything you said and more. I have encountered him on numerous occasions over the years. He is so positive and friendly, you can’t help feeling a little bit better after a brief chat with him.
The couple, who ‘lost’ their dog and are looking for it, might open a can of worms/start a heated discussion. I did follow the social media rants for about 2 seconds. Yes, they wanted to go for a bike ride and thought their dog was well taken care of with shade and water. Coming from Canmore, though, they ought to know wildlife could have had a field day with a tied up dog if it wanted to. I am sure the person who took the dog thinks these people don’t deserve a dog, considering the peril they placed it in for 5 hours in a national park full of hungry wild animals.
The editorial was spot on, as was the accompanying picture ‘Keeping Wildlife Wild’. Parks Canada is not educating the visitors so if the visitors pick up the local paper (even if it is to start their fire back at the campground) and get the info that will stop the idiocy we have been seeing more and more lately, more power to you. Maybe run a similar picture weekly. There are many out there…
Keep up the interesting and thought provoking stories. This really was a good read this week.
