Marmot Learning Centre’s Cool School contest winners
Twenty-eight students from Grand Trunk High School in Evansburg, Alta. have one the first annual Cool School contest. The prize: a weekend of skiing, snowshoeing, food and fun courtesy of Marmot Learning Centre.
Grand Trunk High School was one of 19 schools (over 550 students) to participate in the free on-mountain educational programs in 2012–13, offered through a unique partnership between Parks Canada, Marmot Basin and Grand Yellowhead School Division. The Cool School contest is also supported by Sundog Transportation and Tours and Mountain Park Lodges.
The Marmot Learning Centre is gearing up for another great season at Marmot Basin Ski Area and all of the schools that participate in the program this season will be entered in the 2013–14 Cool School contest.
Tailored to students and teachers alike, the centre offers hands-on curriculum linked outdoor programs with plenty of time left to explore the slopes of Marmot Basin. Sessions include avalanche safety, GPS geocaching and emergency situations. For more information, visit www.thepalisadescentre.ca or www.skimarmot.com.
