This year’s Chili Cook-Off judges sampled 19 concoctions before picking a favourite: the scrumptious chili slaved over by employees of SunDog Tours.
Other standouts were last year’s winner Famoso’s Pizzeria, which placed second, the Volunteer Fire Brigade, which placed third, and Coco’s Cafe, which received an honourable mention.
Interestingly, the people’s choice award went to a group of chefs overlooked by the four judges. That prestigious recognition was awarded, for the second year in a row, to Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Now, of course, there is much more to celebrate than food at this event. There are also booth designs and costumes.
For the second year in a row, L’association canadienne-française de l’Alberta took the top prize, while the Volunteer Fire Brigade and Whistlers Inn rounded out the top three.
