Protect caribou habitat, ski somewhere else

Dear Editor, It was with great trepidation that I read your latest online publication regarding the Maligne Lake Ski Club.

Dear Editor,

It was with great trepidation that I read your latest online publication regarding the Maligne Lake Ski Club. As a property owner in Jasper, I feel it is my duty to speak up against this club of people who seem to think that they have a monopoly on Jaspers backcountry. Their arguments smell of hypocrisy as they claim to appreciate the wilderness while obviously ignoring the fact their hobby consists of ruining an endangered species habitat.

I wouldve thought that these generational club members would rightfully allow the remaining caribou the right of passage. As a part-time resident of Jasper who enjoys making turns on Marmot Basin, I think that these enthusiasts should enjoy our shared passion on the designated trails of Marmot and not ruin the pristine habitat of the majestic caribou.

As a long time Floridian it is remarkable to see the conservation efforts made to recover our alligator population. I think that maybe these club members should visit me down here to see what a true appreciation of the wilderness entails and what a little wise management can achieve with regards to animal population, perhaps the same techniques could be applied (this is called the mirroring and what I use in my own capacity as a Chief Operating Officer).

In closing I would just like to reiterate the flawed thinking that this club is using to try and manipulate the park for their own monetary gains with their case for summer usage.
