Quit wasting water, Jasper

Dear Editor,

We recently had the privilege of visiting the beautiful Jasper area. On our journey to Jasper we passed the source of water for the town-site and noticed just how far the Athabasca Glacier has retreated.
Therefore, we were appalled at the amount of water being used to hydrate the grass in the town! One morning, this precious resource was flowing down the road, not benefitting any plant life. We thought that, as native plants had replaced grass on the medians, why waste water on them, especially at this time of year when the growing season is nearly finished, and particularly in a national park, where examples should be set for the public to conserve water?
In closing, we would like to add our voices to the opposition regarding the fiasco at Maligne Lake. NO amendments to the Jasper Park Management Plan must be considered to allow the business plan of a private company to proceed. The national parks belong to ALL Canadian citizens and are supposed to be a haven for the wildlife.
