Parks Canada closed the northwest loop of Opal Hills July 7 after a grizzly bear and her cub were spotted in the area.
The main trail and south alpine ridge remain open to the public.
The closure will remain in effect until further notice.
To minimize the potential of a bear encounter Parks Canada recommends travelling in groups of four or more, watch for bears, make noise to alert the bear of your presence and carry bear spray.
Bear sightings should be reported to the Jasper National Park resource conservation officer at 780-852-6155
