According to Janet Cooper, Jaspers environmental stewardship coordinator, thats 975 kilograms more than last year. The crew also collected 3,351 empty beverage containersmostly booze bottles.

We find everything and pick everything up. Stewardship Day really makes the park look clean as visitors come through, said Cooper, Everyone who works in these organizations takes a lot of pride in the park.

The annual event is part of Environment Week, which ran from June 8 to 11.

Along with cleaning up the parks highways, Christine Nadon, the towns communications manager, said the event is a good way to strengthen the partnership between Parks and the municipality.

Its a great way to meet new people that you wouldnt necessarily work with, Nadon said. We are all partners in environmental stewardship so this is a good way to team up and work towards our common goal.
