Dear Editor,
I hope ya'll realize how special this community is. It's hitting me more and more each day as time runs down for our departure. After 38 years of living here for me and 31 years for my Kimmy, we are saying goodbye to so many friends and workmates who have left an undeniable impression on us.
I want to bring attention to our post office staff who can get a Christmas card to our box with only our first names on it. No last name and no box number. Amazing! To the nurses in Jasper, as compassionate and talented as you are I will miss the personal attention that you've offered me. To our volunteer firefighters, thank you all for what you do in our community. To my old workmates at CNR and the hardworking union staff, I tip my hat to all of you, I already miss all the whining and complaining. To the staff at TD Bank, the Parks Canada office and the law office, knowing each other over so many years makes doing business so easy in this community. I will miss businesses like Freewheel Cycle and Gravity Gear. All the guys and gals that I have hiked-climbed-skied-ran and dreamed with, I will miss you all so much. To the Ruddy family, your history here in Jasper, is Jasper. Mr. Dana and Miss Loni, your drive to climb, ski, see and do everything in this Park is just exceptional. To the Parks warden service, you are all so talented. Thanks for being there to rescue some of us. To Patricia at the Travel Agency you are simply the best, bar none! And to all of Kimmy's girlfriends and you are many, I am floored at all the love you show on a daily basis.
New adventures and travel plans await us. Life is good. We hope to see many of you again, so be safe out there, and be happy because you live in an amazing place and remember hugs are good for the soul.
On May 18th, please come out to the De'd Dog Bar and Grill and join us for some beers and laughs and hugs of course. Kim and I will be there between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Sincerely,
Ed and Kim Laporte
