Two people were arrested in separate incidents for assaulting police officers last week.
According to police, on June 24 officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. to a call for an intoxicated woman who allegedly punched a stranger in the face.
After locating the woman, police arrested her for assault and transported her to the Jasper detachment, but while being booked in the cells she resisted police and got into a physical altercation with two officers.
During the altercation she allegedly struck an officer in the face with her elbow.
As a result, Savanna Dykema, 20, of Jasper was charged with one count of assault and one count of assault on a police officer causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to appear in Jasper Provincial Court on Aug. 10.
In a separate incident on June 26, police were conducting a routine traffic stop for speeding on Highway 16 when the male driver allegedly got aggressive and assaulted a police officer.
According to police, the officer was allegedly assaulted while the driver was being issued a ticket for speeding in a construction zone.
Following the assault a physical altercation ensued between the suspect and the officer who resorted to using a taser. The male suspect finally complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
Sansan Hien, 44, of Prince George, was charged with one count of assault on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. He was also charged for speeding in a construction zone. He is scheduled to appear in Jasper Provincial Court on July 27. None of the allegations against either individual have been proven in court.
