Two motorcyclists were seriously injured in an accident on the Icefields Parkway, August 2.
According to the RCMP, around 3:30 p.m. a van travelling southbound crossed into the northbound land hitting a motorcycle about 45 km south of Jasper, south of Athabasca Falls.
Both riders on the motorcycle were rushed to hospital with multiple injuries.
A 63-year-old male was taken to the Seaton Healthcare Centre in Jasper, while a 59-year-old female was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital with serious injuries.
An RCMP collision analyst assisted in the investigation and as a result the 58-year-old driver of the van was charged with careless driving under the provincial Traffic Safety Act. He did not sustain any injuries.
