Dear Editor,

I’d like to send out a big thank you in so many directions in our community and beyond. We were beyond successful with our efforts to ensure everyone gets equal core instruction in Jasper Elementary School.
Mr. Blanchette-Dube went above and beyond expectations and not only ensured individual core instruction for all the kids affected, but also kept the Grade 4 kids together. Thanks Mr. B for the creative solution to a problem I wasn’t even prepared to tackle.
Thanks to the Ministry of Education, Honourable David Eggen for the infusion of funding back into education, Grande Yellowhead School Division, Superintendent Cory Gray, for directing some of that funding in our school, our Trustee, Betsy DeClercq for going to numerous meetings to advocate for the parents and students of Jasper, and Mr. Blanchette-Dube and his team of educators for scrambling to make a change at the 11th hour.
I can’t even imagine how crazy it must have been the week before school. I applaud each one of you, and am eternally grateful for the time and effort you’ve put into our kids—Jasper’s kids. This is truly a communal effort and I am proud, as always, to be a Jasperite.
I want to also thank all the parents and community members who helped us with your voice in our efforts to get outside assistance. In the end, everyone won, and nobody lost and once again you’ve shown me how we can move mountains together.
