Maligne Lake Road is closed just past Maligne Canyon for avalanche control and extensive snow removal and will likely remain closed until Thursday.
Access to the Maligne Canyon day-use area and Maligne Hostel remains open.
The closure will allow crews to deal with more than 35 centimetres of accumulation that has accumulated over the past couple of days.
Following avalanche control activities, plows and sanders will work to make the road passable again.
The anticipated opening is expected by noon on Thursday, Feb. 3, with moderate confidence.
