The Municipality of Jasper will begin its paid parking pilot project on July 21.
Paid parking was initially scheduled to begin July 15 but was delayed due to the new signage being damaged in shipping.
The new signage is now up and will remain covered until paid parking begins.
Under the pilot project, all current two-hour parking will cost $2 per hour between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
To pay, drivers will need to download and use a parking app on their smartphone, or scan/tap a sign to pay without the need to download an app.
Drivers can also pay in cash at the municipal administration office.
Off-street parking lots will remain free to use, as will on-street 15-minute drop-off zones and accessible parking stalls.
During the hours that paid parking is in effect, resident parking passes will be required for on-street parking in a one-block radius from the pilot project area.
Residential passes will not be required outside of these hours.
Residents in the designated areas are asked to create a free HotSpot account and register their vehicles there.
Senior residents over 65 years old who do not have a smartphone can visit the municipal administration building to get their resident pass.
