Rock stabilization work resumes along Highway 16 this spring.

Parks Canada is mobilizing its equipment today (April 3) and Monday (April 6) ready to start work.

Work will begin on Monday, April 6, on Highway 16 about 12 kilometres west of the Jasper townsite near Meadow Creek Bridge, until May.

The work will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. up to seven days a week and there will be a two kilometre controlled traffic zone with speed reductions and single lane alternating traffic.

Passing lane work

Parks Canada will bring clearing trees on Highway 16 next week to get the area ready for a new passing lane.

Tree clearing will begin on Monday, April 6, for a maximum of two weeks on Highway 16 west, about 2.5 kilometres west of the Jasper East gate.

Work on the passing lane will begin mid-May. Both lanes of the road will remain open but there may be a short speed reduction zone.
