Jasper National Park is warning travellers that work on rock slope stabilization begins June 14 along Highway 16, or Yellowhead Highway, approximately 15 kilometres west of the Jasper townsite.
Work will continue daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until the end of July.
"Thank you for your patience and cooperation," Parks Canada stated in a newsletter.
"The safety of motorists and workers is of utmost importance to Parks Canada. Please respect traffic control personnel and obey all posted road signs and reduced speed zones."
This safety improvement work is expected to result in a two-kilometre controlled traffic zone with speed reductions, single lane alternating traffic and delays up to 30 minutes.
Parks Canada also warns of potential one-hour road closures once a week to accommodate larger blasts.
These closures will only occur Monday through Thursday between 12 p.m. and 4:30 pm.
For the latest road conditions, go to or dial 511.
