Three Jasper businesses have made the finals of Travel Alberta’s Alto Awards.

The Alto Awards are an industry-led initiative that recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations committed to enriching Alberta's tourism industry.

And Tourism Jasper, Jasper Planetarium and Jasper Food Tours have scooped some of the top spots.

Tourism Jasper made the finals with four campaigns in three categories.

In the Tourism Content category, the company has two of the three final nominations with its Photos of the Month Series and 10 Ways Jasper National Park Can Make You Happier and Healthier.

The third is Banff Parks Canada’s Bison Reintroduction Backcountry Science Web series.

Tourism Jasper picked up another finalist spot in the Marketing Excellence (budget up to $20,000) category with its Summer 2018 Vacancy Alert newsletter, along with Pursuit’s Banff Gondola Alpenglow Festival campaign and the Culinary Trailblazers Video from Edmonton Tourism.

And in the Marketing Excellence (budget $20,000 to $75,000) category, Tourism Jasper picked up yet another nomination for its travel website redesign.

The company invested in its website to create “an immersive experience” featuring Jasper’s top landmarks, hidden gems, off-the-beaten-path attractions and insider tips.

It battles Edmonton Tourism’s Edmonton Heritage Festival and Waterton Chamber of Commerce’s Pie with Paul: Waterton is Open campaign for the prize.

James Jackson, president of Tourism Jasper, said: “I am very grateful for all the great work all the team does here. It is a really talented group.

“It is really fantastic to be recognised in the industry. We are really starting to build momentum.”

In the New Tourism Experience category, Jasper Food Tours’ Downtown Foodie Tour is in the final with Waterton’s Dark Sky Adventure Tour and Pursiot’s Glacier View Lodge: All Inclusive Experience.

And competing for the Alberta Pride prize is Jasper Planetarium’s Planetarium and Telescope Experience against the Canadian Death Race and Bodo Archaeological Site and Centre in Provost.

The Alto Awards committee and judging panel is made up of representatives from different sectors of the tourism industry, representing all regions of the province.

Award-winners will be announced at an awards gala held during the Travel Alberta Industry Conference in Banff, from October 27 to 29.
