The Jasper Atom bears hit the road this past weekend for away date with Fort Saskatchewan.

Unlike the last game when they had a full squad, this time they only had ten players and two of them were goalies.

Some of the team went the night before to catch the Oilers game and hit up Costco (I must on road trips to the city) and a few brave souls hit the road at 7 a.m. to make it to the 1:45 p.m. puck drop.

With only three spare players on the bench the coaching staff were a little concerned about the team's fatigue factor as most of the team was up close to midnight the night before causing harmless shenanigans at the hotel.

Everyone arrived safely to the rink on time and the Bears looked ready to play.

The first ten minutes of the game was like a heavyweight fight as the teams were sharing scoring chances at a furious pace.

William “Cool as a Cucumber” Rutledge was holding the fort in the pipes making key timely saves and even making one glove save that Carey Price would be proud of.

After 30 minutes of hockey the Bears found themselves with a 5 - 0 lead but fatigue was slowly creeping in.

The Bears also made a goalie change giving Carter “Glove Hand” Schmidt the second half of the game.

The Fort Saskatchewan team started to take advantage of the fatigue Jasper was getting and started to pepper the goalie with shots.

Puck after puck was being fired on net but only to be turned away from the heroic goaltending of “Glove Hand” Schmidt.

Fort Saskatchewan did manage to foil the double shout out be scoring a couple of goals but after everything was said and done Jasper skating away with an 8 - 2 victory keeping their undefeated season alive.

The Jasper Atom Bears now have some time off for the holidays.

See you next year.
