The Jasper PeeWee Bears welcomed the Devon Drillers into their den on Sunday.

Both teams started out strong in the first period but it was Devon who scored the first goal, about half way in.

The Bears with a valiant attempt to tie it up, were unable to answer that goal before the Drillers scored another.

The scoreboard read 2 to 0 when the period ended.

Going into the second, Devon quickly scored again and Jasper's hope began to fade.

But not for long as Callum Campbell fired one past the Drillers’ goalie, with lots of game still left to play.

Jasper then had a couple of missed opportunities on power plays later in the second, which kept the score 3 to 1 going into the third.

The third period got off to an exciting start for the Bears when Georgia Bell passed the puck down the ice to Jackson Irwin.

Irwin then deked the Devon keeper which got the fans roaring on the 3 to 2 goal.

If only that momentum could have led the Bears to a victory.

Instead, the Drillers struck oil and took this game home by scoring two more goals before the buzzer.

Final score: 5 to 2.

Georgia Bell was named the Real Deal in this game.

Be sure to join us next Sunday at the Jasper Arena as the PeeWee Bears face off against Ponoka, in their last game before play-offs.

See you at the rink.
