Habitat for the Arts was home to a furrier than usual clientele on Saturday.
Hinton Spay and Neuter Society brought a bundle of cats and kittens to the art centre for the now-annual kitty meet-and-greet.
Jasperites had a chance to cuddle and play with kittens - and get involved in art while they were there, too.
Marianne Garrah, director of Habitat, said: 鈥淲e had about 60 people, it is always a great turnout.鈥�
This year there was cat-themed face painting by JAH Face Art and a craft area to make cat-shaped Christmas ornaments for the World Tree.
鈥淲e try to tie it into something going on in the community and something creative, in the arts,鈥� said Garrah.
鈥淟ast year we had a step-by-step how to draw cats.鈥�
This year is the third year the cats have come to town for a Habitat visit.
鈥淲e thought it would be a good way to connect pet lovers of Jasper,鈥� said Garrah.
鈥淲e don鈥檛 have a place to celebrate pets and we thought it would be a nice way to share a community event around pets and raise a few dollars for them.鈥�
Hinton and District Spay and Neuter Society, which was founded in 2014, aims to reduce and stabilize the stray and feral cat population through a trap, neuter and release program and education of the community.
Cats and kittens are available for adoption for a small fee and barn cats are available free.
The society is also looking for donations of wet and dry cat and kitten food, cat treats, multi-cat clumping cat litter, cat toys, blankets for bedding, old towels, cat food dishes, cleaning supplies, foster homes, volunteers for events, boards and drivers for vet appointments.
