A winter storm rolled through Jasper last week, blanketing the park in snow.
The Pacific low pressure system moved in on Oct. 15, bringing with it significant snowfall from Thursday afternoon, through Friday. A heavy 10.7 millimetres of snowfall fell on Oct. 16 in Jasper, according to Environment Canada, the most since their records began in 1994.
And on Oct. 17 and 18, there were six centimetres of snow on the ground - the highest recorded since 1999. The previous recorded high was in 2003, when there were two to four centimetres of snow on the ground between Oct. 15 and 25.
There have been flurries since the weekend, and more are on the way. On Friday, Oct. 23, Jasper is forecast to have periods of snow with a high of minus eight degrees Celsius and a low of minus 14.
But the weekend will be clearer, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of minus nine on Saturday, followed by a sunny Sunday with a high of minus two. Monday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of zero degrees.
