It was an eventful Halloween this year in Jasper for not only the kids but also the residents of Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge.

With guests of all ages and spooky but yummy treats, Ornesto Tassoni, Meghan Gifford and their staff and volunteers had their annual Halloween event in full swing.

Seniors went above and beyond and were all fully dressed up as witches and unicorns, vampires, gypsies, grown-up babies and more.

And the day was nothing but a success in the eyes of the team, who said it was their best turnout.

The community came together early in the morning with the daycare paying a visit to hang out, show off costumes and share laughs, then family and friends visited after school.

It was another successful social event for youngins that reside at Alpine Summit and lots of smiles were had.

Speaking with a few of the ladies living there, they said they hold an abundance of events that are going on every week from live music performances to dancing - that being said, one of the seniors said she can never get the old men up and dancing.

There are many other activities to keep them active and social, but Halloween remains a favourite.

The centre sees a few trick-or-treaters coming through yearly and has lots of candy on hand, so next year keep in mind to stop by as the seniors said they love to see all the kids in the Halloween spirit and reminisce.

Gifford, assistant manager and activities coordinator, gave special thanks to Ann Hoffele and Charlotte Fallow for costumes and face paint.

At the schools, Jasper Elementary and Ecole Desrochers put on quite a show as well.

The younger grades at Jasper Elementary had an after-lunch parade through the halls with each grade getting to show off their extravagantly designed costumes.

Ecole Desrochers had lots of games and activities going on as well, but the main attraction was their yearly traditional haunted house set up by the older kids for the younger grades.

Pupils went on a tour of a dark and spooky room where a murderer lived.

The room was decorated with brain soup and bone remains scattered, and there were still actors in action dressed as clowns and dead people.
