Hinton RCMP recover stolen vehicle and lay drug trafficking charges

On Nov. 16, 2021, at 10:35 a.m., Hinton RCMP responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 16, just east of Hinton. Police attended the area and located the suspect vehicle.

The investigation determined that the vehicle and licence plate had been previously reported stolen out of Edmonton.

The lone female occupant was arrested without incident.

During the course of this investigation, Hinton RCMP located and seized approximately 42 grams of methamphetamine, 25 grams of cocaine, 4 grams of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and numerous cell phones.

Christine Heather Hennessy (34) of Hinton, Alta. is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (x2)

Following a judicial hearing, Hennessy was released on conditions and is next scheduled to appear in Hinton Provincial court on Dec. 15, 2021.

The removal of these drugs off the streets is significant for the communities of Hinton and Yellowhead County, says Acting Detachment Commander Sgt. Graham Gurski.

Hinton RCMP will continue to focus our efforts on crime reduction and eliminating this illicit activity in our area.

As these matters are now before the courts, no further details surrounding the investigation will be provided.
