Wildflowers Childcare has been honoured with a provincial award.
The Jasper daycare scooped the Minister鈥檚 Award of Excellence in Child Development at a ceremony in Edmonton December 9.
The award, presented by Children鈥檚 Services, recognizes programs licensed by the Government of Alberta that demonstrate excellence in their field and make life better for children and families.
And Wildflowers was acknowledged for its dedication to addressing the needs of Jasper鈥檚 small but culturally diverse community and for striving to accommodate the diverse needs of each of the children in the centre鈥檚 care.
Penny Bayfield, a parent board member, said in a nomination letter: 鈥淏y recognizing each child as special and unique, Wildflowers is able to offer a program that is welcoming and inclusive to all different types of families in the community.
鈥淭he time and effort each educator puts in is all their own, and it does not go unnoticed.
鈥淲e are so fortunate here in Jasper to have such a wonderful team of professionals caring for our children.鈥�
Back in 2017, Jasper鈥檚 Municipal Council declared its commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community.
And as a childcare centre operated under the administration of the Municipality of Jasper, Wildflowers has embraced this commitment in everything it does, supporting children with
diverse needs and celebrating cultural diversity through activities, sharing circles and meals.
