Wildflowers Childcare has been honoured with a provincial award.
The Jasper daycare scooped the Minister’s Award of Excellence in Child Development at a ceremony in Edmonton December 9.
The award, presented by Children’s Services, recognizes programs licensed by the Government of Alberta that demonstrate excellence in their field and make life better for children and families.
And Wildflowers was acknowledged for its dedication to addressing the needs of Jasper’s small but culturally diverse community and for striving to accommodate the diverse needs of each of the children in the centre’s care.
Penny Bayfield, a parent board member, said in a nomination letter: “By recognizing each child as special and unique, Wildflowers is able to offer a program that is welcoming and inclusive to all different types of families in the community.
“The time and effort each educator puts in is all their own, and it does not go unnoticed.
“We are so fortunate here in Jasper to have such a wonderful team of professionals caring for our children.â€
Back in 2017, Jasper’s Municipal Council declared its commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community.
And as a childcare centre operated under the administration of the Municipality of Jasper, Wildflowers has embraced this commitment in everything it does, supporting children with
diverse needs and celebrating cultural diversity through activities, sharing circles and meals.
Lisa Daniel, Childcare Services Manager, said: “This award of excellence is a testament to the dedication and hard work of every member of the Wildflowers team.
“I am proud to be part of such a talented and diverse team that is so invested in the children and families in our community.
“I come to work everyday thankful I get the pleasure of working with such caring, fun and dedicated people.â€
