This past weekend Jasper had two home games against two teams from Fort Saskatchewan and as per usual Jasper dominated from start to finish.

The first game was Saturday afternoon and the game was a back and forth battle for the first ten minutes or so, as both teams looked flat out of the gate.

But just like Patty Mahomes and the KC Chiefs you can only hold them scoreless for so long before they explode and that’s what the Bears did in the second half of the first period as they scored five goals and never looked back.

Jasper had control for most of the game and the frustration from the Fort Saskatchewan players and fans started to show.

The Fort Sask players started to take runs at some of the Bears players including a hit from behind on one of the Bears top defensemen Will Strugnell.

Later on in the second period Carson Miller got a tripping penalty only to be cheered and lipped off by some of the Fort Saskatchewan fans, who really seemed to enjoy seeing a ten-year-old kid being taken to the penalty box.

In the second period intermission the Jasper coaches had a chat with the team and told them the way you get a team back from being dirty is my beating them on the scoreboard - and that’s exactly what they did.

After 60 minutes of play, the Bears burnt down the Fort and skated away with a 9 to 2 victory.

The following day the Bears had a 1 p.m. puck drop against a second team from Fort Saskatchewan and the results were the same.

Jasper controlled the play from start to finish with Ethan Gibbons scoring five goals and Dustin Derksen popping four.

Fort Sask scored two goals of their own and could have had more if it wasn’t for the strong play of the Jasper goalie William Routledge.

After 60 minutes of listening to the Fort Saskatchewan coaches yell and having some fans scream at the 12-year-old ref, the score was 10 to 2 in favour of Jasper.

Jasper will be at home again this weekend with two home games.

Go Bears!
