Municipal facilities in Jasper are shutting down to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Effective today (Monday, March 16) at 5 p.m. the following facilities will be closed to the public:
- Jasper Fitness and Aquatic CentreÂ
- Jasper Activity Centre and ArenaÂ
- Administration OfficeÂ
- Community and Family Services office (including Community Outreach Services)
- Library and Cultural Centre (Jasper Municipal Library, Habitat for the Arts, Jasper Artists Guild and ACFA)
It is not known when these facilities will reopen.
Jasper schools, Wildflowers Childcare and Out of School Care are also closed indefinitely following direction from the Government of Alberta.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to use online banking to pay any municipal bills, or email [email protected] or leave a message at 780-852-3356 to contact the Administration Office.

The news comes hours after prime minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada's borders have been closed to non-residents.
Canadians and Permanent Residents are permitted to return to Canada and are encouraged to do so while commercial travel is still available.Â
