The Jasper PeeWee Bears hit home ice this past Sunday against the Pembina Pirates.

Eager to play hockey again after a long two week break, the Bears entered the arena with their sights set on winning game six of the season.

In the first period it was looking like they would succeed with ease.

Only six minutes into the period, Callum Campbell got the Bears onto the scoreboard with the first goal of the game, assisted by Jackson Irwin and Seth Johannesson.

A few minutes later, Pembina managed to get one past our goalie, Brady Campbell, to tie it up.

Determined to win this game, Drew Kovacs scored another goal for Jasper off a pass from Jackson Irwin and then, not two minutes later, Bode Hofhuis put another one in their net with some help from Brennan Anderson and Carson Campbell.

Happy with the way that period went, the teams took a short intermission with the score 3 to 1 Jasper.

Almost as if the teams traded places during the intermission, Pembina started the second period with a new found vigor.

Not three minutes into the period, Pembina scored.

And then again shortly after to tie it up.

Thirty seconds later, Callum Campbell broke the tie by scoring on a pass from Drew Kovacs sent from Tyler Pearson.

But a minute later, Pembina brought it back to a tie and then took the lead by the end of the second period, making the score 5 to 4 Pembina going into the third.

Do you know the old saying, "The wheels started to come off"?

Well that is exactly what happened in the third period of this game.

Three more quick goals from Pembina and all of a sudden it was like the Pirates had taken all of the treasure and the Bears were left to walk the plank.

But never one to give up, Jackson Irwin put one more puck past the Pirate's tendy, ending the game 8 to 5 for Pembina.

This one didn't go the way Jasper had hoped but the PeeWee Bears will be hosting another home game this Saturday, January 11 at 7:15 p.m.
