A 56-year-old male has been charged and arrested for allegedly assaulting an employee and making verbal threats at a local establishment.
On Nov. 20, Jasper RCMP responded to the disturbance shortly before 9:30 p.m. at the establishment in the area of Connaught Drive and Pyramid Lake Road.
A police investigation indicated that the male was refused entry to the establishment before the assault occurred.
Police did not disclose why the suspect was refused entry as the matter is now before the court, and the name of the establishment was not disclosed in order to protect the privacy of those involved.
The male was arrested on scene, and during his transport by Jasper RCMP, he also caused damage to the police motor vehicle.
Christopher Shane Isbister of Jasper has been charged with assault, two counts of uttering death threats, mischief under $5,000 (relating to police motor vehicle) and breach of a court order.
After a judicial hearing, Isbister was released on a $3,000 promise to pay with conditions.
These include not being able to possess any weapons with the exception of work tools on a job site or utensils used while preparing or eating food.
He is also not to be found intoxicated by controlled drugs, alcohol or other intoxicating substances in a public place.
Isbister is next scheduled to appear in Jasper Provincial Court on Dec. 9.
