The Municipality of Jasper is reopening some recreational services and offering new ones as Alberta moves into Stage 2 of the Open for Summer plan on June 10.

The Fitness Centre will be open from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with a maximum capacity of 10 people and three metres of distance required between users, according to a June 4 update.

Due to limited space, the municipality is encouraging users to book their space ahead of time as admittance for drop-ins could not be guaranteed.

Racquetball, squash and indoor pickleball are new services to be offered in the curling rink at the Jasper Activity Centre, Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Aquatic Centre may take a few more days to open as the municipality awaits water test results, and the facility will be restricted to one-third capacity during Stage 2.

Swim lessons may be available depending on staffing.

A second volleyball court will be available for full-court bookings and for drop-ins, with distancing and masking requirements in effect.

Once league play resumes on June 14, sports fields will be available for bookings.

More details on showers and masking requirements and a complete list of current recreation services are available on the municipality’s website ( and ).
