Dale Karpluk has been acclaimed as Jasper’s trustee for the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD), according to the unofficial nomination results released Sept. 21.

No one else filed a nomination for this electoral subdivision.

Karpluk has been a Jasper resident for 48 years and has served on GYPSD’s board of trustees since 2017.

The Grande Cache Ward and the Hinton subdivision also have acclaimed candidates.

Lobstick and Edson, meanwhile, have more candidates than spots and will thus go to the polls for the school board elections, which will be held Oct. 18 alongside the municipal elections across Alberta.

Grande Yellowhead stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, and north to the town of Grande Cache.

The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, five Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5,000 students and 600 staff members.
