"Keep your vehicles locked," urges Sergeant Rick Bidaisee, commander of the Jasper detachment.

According to Bidaisee, Jasper has seen a spate of vehicles being accessed and rummaged through - and a vehicle was recently stolen.

Leaving a vehicle unlocked or with easy access to valuables stored in the vehicle, creates a situation that criminals find difficult to resist," said Bidaisee.

The sergeant said for a crime to occur, there must be a person with the desire and ability to commit the crime, a person or property that is the target of the crime, and the opportunity to commit the crime.

Jasper RCMP is focussing on getting community members to remove the opportunity for culprits to commit these types of crime, he said.

If you have any information about these criminal activities contact the Jasper RCMP at 780-852-4848 or your local police.
