Time seems to be speeding up as I get older. “Ant-Man” came out in 2015, and it only feels like a few years ago that I viewed it at the Chaba Theatre. I am a huge fan of Marvel movies, and I am thrilled when something is produced in the Marvel universe that is different. “Ant-Man” fills the category of being unique from the standpoint of what Marvel has already created.

Marvel took a huge gamble when they hired Peyton Reed to direct “Ant-Man.” He had directed a few comedies, but nothing for Marvel. The roll of the dice definitely paid off, because with a budget of $130 million, Peyton turned that into $519.3 million at the box office. Peyton Reed knows how to make a movie. The sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp” did even better with $622.3 million at the box office. There is a third sequel in the works, and you can guess who the director is slated for that project.

The cast of “Ant-Man” is probably one of the best casts ever put together by casting agents. Paul Rudd brings the comedy with his dry wit. Michael Peña's animated style and over the top acting style had me laughing throughout the entire movie. Michael Douglas's acting record speaks for itself, and I wondered how Marvel even managed to get him to appear in a comic book movie. The surprise is Albertan-born actress Evangeline Lilly, because she can seriously act. I have never watched “Lost” so I am not familiar with her work, but from what I can see from “Ant-Man,” we can be proud to say she is from Canada. The fantastic cast and great story is why you should watch this Marvel movie.
