If you are a criminal, you know who to call. Saul is the guy that you phone when you are in trouble and need a lawyer to get you out of a jam. Better Call Saul is a spin-off series from the critically acclaimed TV show, Breaking Bad. If you know the names Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, you probably binge-watched the show and were disappointed when it all came to an end. Then Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould took it to a new level by creating Better Call Saul.
Better Call Saul is a prequel to Breaking Bad, and the focus is on Bob Odenkirk's character, Saul Goodman. Bob has done it all from writing for Saturday Night Live to reinventing himself as an award winning actor. If there was an actor that I would like to meet, it would be Bob Odenkirk. There seems to be no limits when it comes to Odenkirks work. He is an actor, comedian, writer, director and producer and at this point unstoppable. He took his character Saul Goodman and molded it to fit his personality, which really shows how great an actor he is. The moment he was introduced in Breaking Bad, I was hooked on his character. When it was announced he would have his own show, I was thrilled.
There have been very few shows that are spin-offs that work, but Better Call Saul is the exception. The reason it works so well is because all the secondary characters in Breaking Bad are developed. Depth is provided to each character, which provides context to all the events that happened before Breaking Bad. If you are a fan of Saul Goodman, you have to watch Better Call Saul.
