Are you a fan of the “Ghostbusters” franchise? If you liked the original two movies, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” should be on your watchlist. It follows the storyline from the two made in the ‘80s. The gap from “Ghostbuster 2” made in 1989 and “Afterlife” (2021) is substantial for a sequel. I cannot think offhand of how many sequels there are with that kind of time difference. There have been plenty of reboots but not many sequels have been made worth viewing. “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” is the exception because of the way the writers bridged the first two movies.

Jason Reitman had a vision where he wanted to take the newest “Ghostbusters.” He is the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the original. I can only imagine what kind of childhood he had, because he literally grew up with the Ghostbusters. Reitman’s direction took the newest movie where it was supposed to go. It did not compromise the original premise of what a “Ghostbusters” movie should be about. If you recall in 2016, a reboot was made, and it flopped at the box office. The movie was entertaining but did not get any love from “Ghostbusters” purists.

The main reason I am such a fan of the newest movie is because of the love for Harold Ramis. The movie is dedicated to Ramis, and it is without a doubt the best dedication ever done in the film industry. His legacy can never be forgotten, and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” solidifies his contribution to the “Ghostbusters” franchise. If you are a fan of Ghostbusters, you know what you have to do.
