Every year, there is a movie that slips under my radar, and I become aware of it through someone's recommendation. Marketing had nothing to do with my decision to watch it, but a simple referral is all it took. They say referrals are the best form of advertising, and I tend to agree when it comes to the movie industry. House of Gucci is a film that would not be on my list to view, the reason being I had no information regarding the movie other than Adam Driver was in it. After he starred as Kylo Ren in Star Wars, I have never been a fan.

You are probably wondering why I would take the time to review a film called House of Gucci. The title alone tells the viewer it is about the fashion industry. How could a movie about the Gucci dynasty be interesting? After watching it, I have to say you could have knocked me over with a feather. The storyline is fantastic for the simple reason that it is based on a true story. I had no idea the Gucci family was so complex and the saying, Truth is stranger than fiction really holds true.

The cast is probably the most amazing thing about the movie. Ridley Scott is the only man on the planet that could have assembled such a stellar cast. To name drop, you have Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, and Jared Leto in the same movie. Lady Gaga literally stole the show as you would expect. Jared Leto was fantastic for the simple fact, I did not even know he was in the movie. His character was invisible, because you could not recognize him onscreen. When he approached Pacino before filming, Al had no idea who he was. Even Adam Driver redeemed himself as an actor, because he played his part to perfection. Please take the time to watch this movie for no other reason than it was referred to me by a friend.
