I have mentioned in the past that Queen Latifah is a triple threat. She does it all by singing, dancing and acting like it is nobody’s business. She is a great singer and can dance with the best of them. I think acting is where she excels, and there is no one better when it comes to her work in comedy. Queen Latifah has a natural flow when she is being funny. Her timing is great and her comedy is not forced.

I thought I would watch “Last Holiday” to get in the mood for the holidays, and it did the trick. It is one of my favorite Queen Latifah films, and if you need a laugh, there are some excellent skits. The piece where Latifah goes base jumping is hilarious. The premise of the movie is Latifah finds out she only has a few weeks to live. With that knowledge, she decides to spend all of her remaining funds on an extravagant holiday in Europe. She stays at the Grandhotel Pupp in the Czech Republic, and the hotel staff is intrigued by everything she does. Queen Latifah charms her way throughout the entire movie, and there is even a twist at the end.

I know this is a dated movie, but the comedy stands up. If you love hip-hop's first lady and a movie for the holiday season, look no further.
