It is hard to believe there are already three seasons of 鈥淪tar Trek: Discovery鈥� released. I guess it really is not a stretch, since the first season came out in 2017. Time has simply changed for me in the last couple of years, because everything has been delayed from production. Movies and TV shows that should have been released a year and a half ago have been delayed till now. I was thrilled to watch the third season of 鈥淒iscovery,鈥� because the concept is innovative. Each season pushed the boundaries of science fiction.
The show has what all fans of 鈥淪tar Trek鈥� love and is a tie-in to Spock. 鈥淪tar Trek鈥檚鈥� foundation was built on the character of Spock and the producers of 鈥淒iscovery鈥� did not overlook that fact. The main character is played by Sonequa Martin-Green who is the adoptive sister of Spock. I know there is a certain amount of poetic license being taken by introducing Spock鈥檚 adoptive sister, but it definitely works for the show.
I have found over the years of watching different 鈥淪tar Trek鈥� projects that you have to be a Trekkie to really enjoy any new themes. 鈥淒iscovery鈥� is successful, because it branches out on its own, but it has solid connections to past 鈥淪tar Trek鈥� franchises. Concepts such as time travel, a spore drive and Trills. Remember when 鈥淒eep Space Nine鈥� introduced Trills and kept audiences wanting more? If you are a Trekkie, I know you will enjoy 鈥淒iscovery,鈥� because it goes where no one has gone before.
