I am not a big fan of B horror movies, but when a movie is surrounded by controversy I become interested.
The Hunt became one of those movies that made me curious because why anyone would care if it was released or not. When I read the story outline I thought that is something that sounds intriguing and maybe worth watching.
The premise of the movie is 12 strangers wake up in a field and have no idea how they got there. One of the twelve is Julia Roberts' niece with the rest being relatively unknown actors.
I knew Roberts was not the lead actress because of the box art for the movie. The main actress is featured on the dvd cover bloodied and bruised with no explanation as to why she looked the way she did. I guess the title should have prepared me for the answer.
The movie rolls at a quick pace and Emma Roberts quickly fades into the distance. One thing I know about horror is the plot is always unpredictable and Roberts' character proves that.
Hilary Swank fills the void by being the greatest villain and the pace starts speeding up to the point of insanity. It was at this pivotal point in the film I realized the star is fantastic and an actress that I must watch in the future.
Betty Gilpin is no Betty in this action thriller horror satirical comedy. She was tailor made for the role and her stunt work was impressive.
I was glad I took the chance on this low budget horror flick and will be researching what other works Gilpin stars in.
