Angelina Jolie's newest movie checks off several boxes. It has action, adventure, thriller components and 30 seconds of comedy. The film received a solid six out 10 on imdb and audiences scored it 85 per cent on rotten tomatoes. The movie was considered a box office flop, but it is predicted to do well on physical media and the streaming services. The number one reason it did poorly upon opening is the lack of hype. The marketing was poor, and I have noticed this is now a trend when it comes to promoting new films. The new reality of the movie industry is marketing and advertising agencies have also been hit hard over the last two years.
There is no lack of action in Those Who Wish Me Dead. Within five minutes of the films opening credits, a house blows up and sets the tempo for the movie. Angelina brings it as a smokejumper stationed at a fire lookout tower in Montana. The one thing you can count when it comes to Angelina Jolie is she always plays her part to the limit. There is never a doubt that her character is capable of doing the things she does in the film. She is still in the game by making movies that entertain audiences, and we are rooting for her the entire time.
One of the components that impressed me the most about this film was the sets. The intensity of the movie was fueled by the set design. I had to research how it was even possible to create a forest fire of such magnitude and make it safe for everyone involved. The answer was unexpected because the production crew created a simulated forest in the desert of New Mexico. The combination of a brilliant set, Angelinas intensity and a well-written script are just a few reasons to watch her latest flick.
