Sasquatches and Glacier Girls partied hard at Marmot Basin last weekend at the annual Kokanee Freeride.

The mid-mountain patio was transformed for an outdoor party with guest DJs from Edmonton radio station HOT 107, a barbecue, and plenty of Kokanee beer.

Derek Kitching, marketing coordinator at Marmot Basin, said: Throughout the entire event there was a contagious energy that made it a fun place to be.

This year had a mixture of sun and cloud and even provided a sprinkle of snow near the end.

Kitching said plenty of neon coloured retro outfits and jean shorts were seen sported throughout the crowd of people.

And near the end of the event, a massive conga line broke out and weaved through the sun pit area.

The Kokanee Freeride draws in hundreds of people each year, some coming on buses from the city.

Kitching said: Participants get to enjoy one of the best times of the ski season: warm temperatures and great snow conditions - bundled with the ability to enjoy a beverage on one of the outdoor patios makes this time of year special.

Marmot Basin will be open until May 5, and there are still some big events planned before the end of the season.

Next up is the Aloha Cup, where racers in Hawaiian attire compete on a fun race course that includes banked turns, rollers, and small jumps.

The Aloha Cup takes place over Easter Long Weekend, and the Easter Bunny will visit Marmot on Sunday morning and hide Easter Eggs hidden all over the mountain.

To cap off the events in April at Marmot Basin, Jasper Pride returns to the mountain.

On the last weekend in the month there will be a pride parade on the mountain followed by a party at mid-chalet with DJs and a barbecue.
