On Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. the Local Christmas Craft Fair will begin for its sixth year running.

For the second year in a row, the fair will be strictly online due to COVID restrictions and regulations.

Each year at the fair, artists come with their handmade creations for locals to shop and support all their local business.

The event will last approximately one week and everyone is able to shop via the Facebook page.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic the fair was hosted at the McCready Centre in Jasper.

At the 2019 fair, the event had approximately 250-300 attendees and around 28 vendors.

Every year, the fair also helps fundraise for Santas Anonymous by doing a raffle and in past years a chai tea by donation.

Being a local artisan, I felt there was a need to create more opportunities for local artists and crafters to showcase their handcrafted creations, said organizer Nicole Covey.

Also, a big part of it was wanting the community to have more chances to shop local, so the Local Christmas Craft Fair was born.

So, this holiday season, consider shopping local and supporting the fellow artists in town.
