A man in his twenties faces multiple charges after trying to evade police across provinces in a stolen vehicle.
On May 28, Valemount RCMP informed the Jasper detachment of a possible stolen vehicle heading their way from the Clearwater area, as another stolen vehicle had been recovered there.
The suspect was seen at the Alberta border in the vehicle from Clearwater and attempted to evade police - driving at a high rate of speed.
He went off the road near the Transfer Station, just outside of Jasper, and fled the vehicle.
Sergeant Rick Bidaisee, commander of the Jasper detachment, said: Once we got the information he was coming our way we had possibly half an hour notice.
A good samaritan flagged the police down and told us a vehicle had gone off the road at that location and we set up a containment area.
Jasper and Valemount RCMP with the assistance of air services from Edmonton, RCMP police dog services and Parks Canada law enforcement apprehended the man that afternoon.
He was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and dangerous driving - and had three outstanding warrants from Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The man, who has not been named for legal reasons, is scheduled to appear at Clearwater Court on an upcoming docket date.
Bidaisee thanked the public for their assistance.
